Your Role and Responsibilities

The right candidate for this job will be excited to join this mission and to pioneer the software for next-generation quantum hardware design. You may be coming from an academic circuit QED research group or have been a software developer for a large industrial firm. Whichever the case, you are excited to tackle the challenge and need to improve the design and development of quantum hardware by open-source work on Qiskit Metal.
As part of a diverse team, you will help grow Metal, expand its design functionality, interface capabilities with simulation software, and develop new quantum analysis offerings. You will work with a diverse top-talent team, including software engineers, physicist & engineers, and quantum hardware designers.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Proficient python programming and object-oriented software
• Experience with open-source software projects and version control, such as git and github.
• Proven capability to learn and work with new technologies.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Masters/PhD or 3-5 years of experience in one of Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Familiarity with python packages, such as numpy, scipy, pandas, geopandas, gdspy
• Experience working on open source or multi-person software projects and software practices, such as code reviews
• Familiarity with some of following topics: software design, open source, microwave engineering, circuit QED, photonics, CMOS design, silicon fabrication techniques,best practices.
• Experience working with modeling software (e.g., Ansys, Keysight, Cadence, Comsol)
• Some exposure to open-source quantum hardware design software, such as Qiskit Metal, scQubits, QuTiP, pyEPR, KQCircuits, etc.
